Today, we will explore a short story together. Shared reading allows us to read as a group, which helps us understand the text better. As we read, I will ask you to predict what might happen next in the story. Predictions are guesses based on what we have read so far and what we know about the world.

Let's read the first part of our story. (Read aloud the first paragraph of a chosen text.) Now, based on what we have read, what do you think will happen next? (Encourage students to share their thoughts.) For example, if the character is feeling sad, they might find something that makes them happy.

I will read the next part of the story. After I finish, I want you to turn to your partner and discuss your predictions. What do you think will happen next? Remember to use clues from the text to support your ideas. After a few minutes, we will share our predictions with the class.
