Let’s look at a simple story: 'UThandiwe uhlala edolobheni. Uthanda ukudlala ibhola nabangani bakhe. Ngelanga elihle, badlala ibhola epaki.' This story has a character (UThandiwe), a setting (edolobheni), and an event (ukudlala ibhola). Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. This is how we use punctuation to help our readers understand our story.

Now, let’s work together to create a short story. I will ask you questions to help us build our story. What is the name of our main character? (Students respond.) Where does our character live? (Students respond.) What do they like to do? (Students respond.) As we gather these ideas, I will write them on the board. We will then form sentences together, ensuring we use proper punctuation and spacing.
