It begins with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark, such as a full stop (.), question mark (?), or exclamation mark (!). Today, we will learn how to write sentences correctly by focusing on these important rules. We will also discuss how punctuation helps us understand the meaning of sentences.
Let's look at some examples of sentences. For instance, 'UThandi uyathanda ukudlala.' (Thandi loves to play.) This sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. Another example is 'Uphi uSipho?' (Where is Sipho?) This sentence ends with a question mark because it asks something. Notice how punctuation changes the way we read the sentence.
Now, let's practice together. I will say a sentence, and you will help me write it on the board. For example, if I say, 'I see a dog,' we will write it as 'Ngibona inja.' Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. After we write it, we will read it aloud together. Let's do a few more sentences as a class.
