Shared reading is a collaborative reading experience where the teacher reads a text aloud while students follow along. Today, we will read a short story together and predict the outcomes based on the illustrations and text.

As we read the story 'Uthando Lwethu' (Our Love), I will pause at certain points and ask you what you think will happen next. For instance, when we see the character looking sad, I might ask, 'Why do you think he is sad? What do you think will happen next?' This encourages you to think critically and use clues from the text.

In groups, you will receive a page from the story. Look at the pictures and read the text together. Discuss with your group what you think will happen next. After a few minutes, each group will share their predictions with the class. Remember to use complete sentences and correct punctuation when you speak.

Now, I want you to write your own prediction about the ending of the story we read. Use at least three sentences and make sure to include proper punctuation. After writing, draw a picture that represents your prediction. Once you finish, we will share our predictions with a partner.
