Today, we will explore a short story together. Shared reading allows us to read as a group, helping each other understand the text. As we read, we will make predictions about what might happen next in the story. This will help us think critically and engage with the text more deeply.

Let’s read a short story about a boy named Thabo who finds a mysterious box in the forest. After reading the first paragraph, I will ask you, 'What do you think is inside the box?' This encourages you to use your imagination and think about the possibilities. We will write down our predictions on the board.

Now, let’s work together. I will read another paragraph, and after that, I want you to discuss in pairs what you think will happen next. After your discussion, we will come back together and share our ideas. I will write some of your predictions on the board, and we will practice turning those predictions into complete sentences with correct punctuation.

For your independent task, I want you to write a short paragraph predicting what will happen at the end of the story. Use at least three sentences and remember to use correct punctuation. After you finish writing, you can illustrate your prediction with a drawing. We will share our predictions with the class at the end.
