Assessment is a way to evaluate how well we are doing in different areas of our lives, such as school, friendships, and health. Reflection is thinking about our experiences and what we can learn from them. Together, these skills help us grow and improve. For example, after completing a project, we can assess what went well and what could be better next time. This process helps us make better choices in the future.
Imagine you are at a birthday party with lots of delicious food. You see cake, chips, and fruit. Let's assess the choices: cake and chips are tasty but not very healthy, while fruit is nutritious. Reflecting on this, we can decide to enjoy a small piece of cake but also fill our plate with fruit. This way, we make a healthy choice while still enjoying the party!
In pairs, discuss a time when you showed respect to someone or when someone showed respect to you. Share your stories with the class. After sharing, reflect on how these respectful actions made you feel. Did it help build a better relationship? How can we continue to show respect in our daily lives? This discussion will help us understand the importance of respectful behavior.
Now it's your turn to reflect on your learning this term. Think about one thing you did well and one area where you can improve. Write down a small goal for yourself that you want to achieve by the end of the term. For example, if you want to read more books, your goal could be to read one extra book each week. Share your goal with a partner and discuss how you will achieve it.
