Health and safety are important parts of our daily lives. They help us stay safe and healthy. In this lesson, we will discuss what it means to be healthy and safe. We will look at different situations where we need to make choices that affect our health and safety, such as crossing the street, eating healthy foods, and being respectful to our friends.
Let's look at some examples together. If I say, 'A child is running in the playground without looking where they are going,' is this safe or unsafe? (Unsafe) Now, if I say, 'A child is waiting for the traffic light to change before crossing the street,' is this safe or unsafe? (Safe) By discussing these examples, we can learn to recognize safe and unsafe behaviors in our own lives.
Now, we will practice what we have learned through role-playing. I will divide you into small groups and give each group a scenario. For example, one group might act out a situation where someone is offered junk food, while another group might act out a situation where someone is helping a friend who fell. After each role-play, we will discuss what choices were made and how they relate to health and safety.
To wrap up our lesson, I want each of you to think about one healthy choice you can make this week. It could be drinking more water, eating more fruits and vegetables, or being kind to a classmate. Write down your goal on a piece of paper and draw a picture that represents it. We will share our goals with the class and support each other in achieving them.
