Common units of measurement include centimeters (cm), meters (m), grams (g), and liters (L). Understanding these units helps us compare and understand the world around us.
Let's measure the length of a desk. If the desk is 120 cm long, we can write this as: Length of desk = 120 cm. If we want to compare it to a chair that is 60 cm long, we can say the desk is twice as long as the chair. This helps us understand how measurement works in relation to other objects.
Now, let's practice measuring! Each student will take a ruler and measure the length of their pencil. Write down the measurement in centimeters. After measuring, we will discuss how to compare our measurements. For example, if one pencil is 15 cm and another is 10 cm, we can say the first pencil is longer by 5 cm.
