Places of worship are special buildings where people gather to practice their faith. Different religions have different types of places of worship. For example, Christians go to churches, Muslims visit mosques, Jews gather in synagogues, and Hindus worship in temples. Each of these places has unique features and serves as a community hub for followers.
Letβs take a closer look at a church. Churches often have a steeple, stained glass windows, and a cross. Inside, you might find pews for seating, an altar, and sometimes a choir area. People gather here on Sundays to pray, sing hymns, and listen to sermons. This is an example of how a place of worship can bring people together in faith.
Now, letβs work together to identify different places of worship. I will show you pictures of a church, a mosque, a synagogue, and a temple. As we look at each picture, discuss with your partner what you see and what you think happens in each place. After that, we will share our thoughts with the class.
For your independent practice, I want you to imagine a new place of worship. Draw a picture of it and write a few sentences explaining what religion it serves, what it looks like, and what activities take place there. Be creative and think about how your place of worship can bring people together.
