Let’s look at a short story together. 'Mokgadi o ne a le mošong o monate. O ile a etela motse wa gagwe, a bona diphiri le dipholo. O ile a thoma go ngwaga ka go ngwaga.' Notice how the sentences are structured and how punctuation is used to separate ideas. This helps the reader understand the story better.

In groups of four, brainstorm ideas for a short story. Each group will choose a character, a setting, and an event. Write down your ideas on a piece of paper. After 10 minutes, each group will share their story outline with the class. Remember to listen carefully to each group and think about how they use punctuation in their outlines.

Now it’s your turn! Write a short story of your own. It should be at least five sentences long. Make sure to include a beginning, middle, and end. Use correct punctuation and spacing. Once you finish writing, read your story to a partner and give each other feedback on your use of punctuation and clarity.
