Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. In Sepedi, we can create stories, poems, and descriptions that reflect our culture and experiences. Today, we will focus on writing a short story about a memorable day in our lives. We will learn how to use punctuation marks like full stops, commas, and question marks to make our writing clear and engaging.
Letβs look at an example of a short story: 'Ke ile ka etela ngwana wa ka, re ile ra bapala ka ntle. Re ile ra bona diphoofolo tse di monate, mme re ile ra thabela go bona diphiri. Ka borai, re ile ra ja dipholo.' Notice how the sentences are structured and how punctuation is used to separate ideas. This helps the reader understand the story better.
Now, letβs work together as a class. I will ask you to think about a special day you remember. In groups, discuss your stories and decide on the main events. After that, each group will write a short paragraph about their special day. Remember to use punctuation correctly. I will walk around to help you with your sentences and ideas.
For your independent practice, I want each of you to write your own short story about a day that was special to you. Use at least five sentences and make sure to include proper punctuation. Once you finish writing, read your story to a partner and listen to their story as well. This will help you practice your speaking and listening skills.
