Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and ideas in unique ways. In Sepedi, we can create stories, poems, or descriptions that reflect our culture and experiences. Today, we will explore how to write creatively by focusing on sentence structure, punctuation, and spacing. We will also discuss our ideas with classmates to enhance our understanding.
Let’s look at a simple story: 'Ke na le ngwana yo a ratang go bapala. O bapala le metswalle ya gagwe ka ntle. Ba a tshega le go itumelela.' Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. This is important for clarity in our writing. We will practice writing similar sentences today.
In groups, let’s create sentences together. Each group will receive a picture that tells a story. Discuss what you see and write down three sentences about the picture. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and full stops at the end. After writing, each group will share their sentences with the class.
Now it’s your turn to write! Think of a fun day you had and write a short paragraph about it. Use at least five sentences. Make sure to check your punctuation and spacing. After you finish, read your paragraph to a partner and discuss what you wrote. This will help you practice speaking and listening skills.
