It starts with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark, such as a full stop (.), question mark (?), or exclamation mark (!). For example, 'The dog barks.' is a complete sentence. Today, we will learn how to write sentences correctly and use punctuation to make our writing clear.

Let’s look at some examples. 'I love Sepedi.' is a simple sentence. Notice that it starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. If we want to ask a question, we can say, 'Do you like Sepedi?' This sentence ends with a question mark. Lastly, for excitement, we can say, 'I won the race!' which ends with an exclamation mark. Each of these sentences conveys a different message and uses punctuation correctly.

Now, let’s practice together. I will give you a few words, and you will help me form sentences. For example, if I say 'cat', 'runs', and 'fast', you might say, 'The cat runs fast.' Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. Let’s try another one: 'children', 'play', 'outside'. What sentence can we create? (Encourage students to respond and correct any punctuation errors together.)
