For example, a full stop (.) tells us that a sentence has ended, while a question mark (?) shows that a sentence is asking something. Today, we will learn how to use these marks correctly in our writing.
Let’s look at the sentence: 'Ke rata dipudi' (I love sheep). If we want to ask a question, we should change it to 'Ke rata dipudi?' (Do I love sheep?). Notice how the question mark changes the meaning of the sentence. Now, let’s practice changing some sentences together.
In groups, you will receive sentences with missing punctuation. Your task is to read the sentences aloud and decide where to place the punctuation marks. For example, if you have 'O kae' (Where are you), you should add a question mark at the end. After discussing, each group will share their sentences with the class.
Now it’s your turn to write! Write three sentences about your favorite animal. Make sure to use correct punctuation and spacing. For example, 'Ke rata dipudi. Dipudi di monate.' (I love sheep. Sheep are beautiful.) After writing, swap your paper with a partner and check each other’s work for punctuation errors.
