Today, we will explore new words that we can use in our daily conversations. Vocabulary is important because it helps us express our thoughts clearly. We will read a short story together and identify new words. After reading, we will discuss the meanings of these words and how we can use them in sentences.
Let's look at the sentence: 'The cat is sleeping on the mat.' We can identify the subject (the cat), the verb (is sleeping), and the object (on the mat). Now, let's change the sentence to: 'The dog is playing in the yard.' Notice how we have used a different subject and verb but kept the structure similar. This helps us understand how to create our own sentences.
In groups, you will receive a set of letters. Your task is to create as many words as possible using these letters. Once you have formed your words, choose one and create a sentence using that word. Remember to use correct punctuation and spacing. After 10 minutes, each group will share their sentences with the class.
Now it’s your turn to write! Write a short paragraph about your favorite animal. Use at least five new words you learned today. Make sure to check your sentences for correct punctuation and spacing. After you finish, read your paragraph to a partner and discuss the new words you used.
