Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. In this lesson, we will explore how to create short stories and sentences that are interesting and clear. We will focus on using correct punctuation, such as full stops, commas, and question marks, to help our readers understand our writing better.
Let’s look at a simple story: 'Mokhudu o ne a le mo lefelong le le monate. O ne a rata go etela borai le go bapala le bagwera ba gagwe. Ka letsatsi le lengwe, ba etetse borai ba bone.' Notice how the sentences are structured and how punctuation helps to separate ideas. This makes it easier for the reader to follow the story.
Now, let’s work together to create sentences. I will say a prompt, and you will help me build a sentence. For example, if I say 'Mokhudu o etela...', you can suggest what Mokhudu is doing. Remember to think about punctuation. After we create a few sentences together, we will read them aloud to practice our speaking skills.
It’s your turn to write! Think of a fun day you had and write a short story about it. Use at least five sentences and remember to use punctuation correctly. Once you finish writing, pair up with a friend and read your stories to each other. This will help you practice your reading and speaking skills.
