Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. Today, we will focus on writing about our favorite animals. We will think about what makes these animals special and how we can describe them using interesting words. Remember to use full stops and capital letters to make our writing clear and easy to read.
Let’s look at an example: 'My favorite animal is a lion. Lions are strong and brave. They have a golden mane and sharp teeth. Lions live in groups called prides. I love lions because they are the kings of the jungle!' Notice how the sentences are clear and descriptive, using punctuation correctly.
Now, let’s have a group discussion. I want each of you to share your favorite animal with the class. As you speak, think about the words you use to describe your animal. After everyone has shared, we will work together to create a list of descriptive words that we can use in our writing.
It’s time for you to write your own descriptive text about your favorite animal. Use the words we discussed in class and remember to include correct punctuation. Write at least five sentences. After you finish, pair up with a friend and read your text to each other. Give each other feedback on your writing.
