Let's read a short story together. The story is about a young boy named Thabo who finds a magical bird. As we read, I will demonstrate how to use different tones for different characters. For example, when Thabo is excited, I will read with a happy tone, and when he is scared, I will lower my voice. Pay attention to how I change my expression and volume.

Now, it's your turn! In small groups, choose a short text from the provided selection. Each student will take turns reading a paragraph aloud. Remember to use expression in your voice. After reading, discuss with your group how the characters might feel in different parts of the story. How can you show those feelings through your reading?
