Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. Today, we will explore how to write short stories and sentences that are interesting and fun. We will learn about the importance of punctuation, such as full stops, commas, and question marks, to make our writing clear and enjoyable for readers.
Let’s look at a short story together: 'Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a brave little girl named Tandi. She loved to explore the forest and make new friends. One day, she found a hidden treasure under a big tree!' Notice how each sentence ends with a full stop, and how the story flows from one idea to the next. This is how we can create engaging stories!
Now, let’s work together to create sentences. I will start a sentence, and you will help me finish it. For example, I say, 'The sun was shining brightly, and...' What can we add? (Encourage students to suggest endings.) Remember to use punctuation at the end of your sentences. Let’s write down a few of these sentences on the board.
It’s your turn to be creative! Write a short story about an adventure you would like to have. Use at least five sentences and remember to include punctuation. After you finish, draw a picture that goes along with your story. Once you are done, we will share our stories with the class. This will help us practice our speaking skills too!
