Let's look at how to build a sentence. For instance, if I say 'The cat is sleeping,' we can identify the subject (the cat) and the action (is sleeping). Notice the use of a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. Now, let’s create another sentence together: 'The sun is shining.' What do we notice about this sentence? Yes, it also starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop.

I will read a short story in Tshivenda. Listen carefully and think about the main ideas. After I finish reading, I will ask you some questions about the story. Remember to raise your hand to answer. This will help you practice your speaking skills as well. Let's begin! (Read the story aloud.) Now, what was the main character's name? What did they do in the story?

Now it's your turn to practice writing sentences. I want you to think of your favorite animal and write three sentences about it. Make sure to start each sentence with a capital letter and end with a full stop. After you finish writing, pair up with a partner and read your sentences to each other. This will help you practice both writing and speaking.
