Today, we will explore the concept of shared reading. Shared reading is when we read a text together as a class. It helps us understand stories better and allows us to make predictions about what might happen next. We will read a short story in Xitsonga and discuss our thoughts and predictions as we go along.

Let's read a short story about a little girl named Nandi who finds a mysterious box in her garden. As we read, I will pause and ask you what you think is inside the box. For example, after reading the first few sentences, I might say, 'What do you think Nandi will find in the box? Is it something good or something scary?' This encourages you to think critically and share your ideas.

Now, I will divide you into small groups. Each group will read a different short text. After reading, discuss with your group what you think will happen next in the story. Remember to listen to each other's ideas and share your own predictions. After 10 minutes, we will come back together and share our predictions with the class.

For your independent practice, I want you to write a short paragraph about a story you enjoy. Describe what happens in the story and make a prediction about what will happen next. Use correct punctuation and spacing in your sentences. Once you finish writing, pair up with a partner and read your predictions to each other.
