Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. This week, we will focus on writing short stories and poems. We will learn how to use our imagination to create characters, settings, and plots. Remember, there are no wrong answers in creative writing; the goal is to let your ideas flow freely.

Let’s look at a short story example: 'Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a curious cat named Mzi. Mzi loved to explore the fields and chase butterflies. One sunny day, he discovered a hidden path that led to a magical garden filled with colorful flowers and singing birds.' Notice how the story introduces a character and sets the scene. We will create our own stories using similar techniques.

In groups of four, brainstorm ideas for a short story. Choose a character, a setting, and a problem they need to solve. Each group will share their ideas with the class. As you share, pay attention to how you use punctuation and spacing in your sentences. After sharing, we will discuss how to improve our stories together.

Now it’s your turn to write! Create your own short story using the character, setting, and problem you developed in your group. Remember to use correct punctuation and spacing. Aim for at least five sentences. Once you finish, read your story to a partner and give each other feedback on how to make it even better.
