Shared reading is a collaborative reading experience where the teacher and students read a text together. This method encourages students to engage with the text actively. Today, we will read a short story in isiNdebele and make predictions about what might happen next. Predictions help us to think critically and connect with the story.

Let’s read the first paragraph of our story together. After reading, I will ask you what you think will happen next. For instance, if the story is about a boy who finds a mysterious box, you might predict that he will open it and discover something surprising. This is how we use clues from the text to make predictions.

Now, I will divide you into small groups. Each group will read a different paragraph of the same story. After reading, discuss within your group what you think will happen next. Use phrases like 'I predict that...' or 'I think that...'. After 5 minutes, each group will share their predictions with the class.

For your independent task, I want you to write a short paragraph predicting the ending of the story we read. Use correct punctuation and spacing. Remember to include at least three sentences. After you finish writing, pair up with a partner and read your predictions to each other.
