Let’s look at a simple story: 'UThandi uyathanda ukudlala emhlabeni. Uthanda ukufunda izincwadi ezimnandi. Ngolwesithathu, uThandi udlale nomngani wakhe, uSipho. Baphuma emnyango, baphosa ibhola.' Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. This helps the reader understand where one idea ends and another begins.
In groups of four, brainstorm ideas for a short story. Choose a main character and a setting. Each group will write a paragraph about their story. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of sentences and full stops at the end. After writing, each group will share their story with the class. Pay attention to how your classmates structure their sentences.
Now it’s your turn! Write a short text about your favorite day. Describe what happened, who was there, and how you felt. Make sure to use correct punctuation and spacing. After you finish writing, read your text aloud to a partner and discuss what you enjoyed about each other's stories.
