Notice how the sentences are structured and punctuated correctly.

Now, let’s work together to create a story. I will divide you into small groups. Each group will come up with a character and a setting. For example, your character could be a brave girl named Zola, and the setting could be a magical forest. As a group, write down your ideas and then we will share them with the class. Remember to think about how to structure your sentences and use punctuation correctly.

For your independent practice, I want you to write your own short story. Use the character and setting ideas we discussed in class or create your own.
