Let's look at the following sentence: 'Ke a ja borai.' (I eat rice.) This sentence is correct. Now, consider this one: 'Ke ja borai.' (I eat rice.) The verb 'ja' should be in the present tense. If we want to say 'I am eating rice,' we should say 'Ke a ja borai.' Notice how the addition of 'a' changes the meaning to present continuous.
In groups of four, you will receive a set of sentences that contain grammatical errors. Your task is to read each sentence aloud and discuss as a group what the errors are. Then, rewrite the sentences correctly on a piece of paper. After 10 minutes, we will share our corrections with the class.
Now, it's your turn to practice independently. Write five sentences about your favorite food. Make sure to use correct punctuation at the end of each sentence. After writing, exchange your work with a partner and check each other's sentences for any grammatical errors or punctuation mistakes.
