Let's read a short story together. As we read, pay attention to how the author uses descriptive words and punctuation. For example, in the sentence 'The bright, golden sun rose slowly over the horizon,' notice how the adjectives 'bright' and 'golden' create a vivid image. After reading, we will discuss what we liked about the story and how the author made it interesting.

Now it's your turn! In pairs, choose a topic, such as your favorite place or a memorable event. Write a descriptive paragraph about it, using at least three adjectives and proper punctuation. After writing, share your paragraph with another pair and provide feedback on their use of descriptive language and punctuation. This will help you learn from each other and improve your writing skills.

For your independent practice, write a short story of at least five sentences. Make sure to include a beginning, middle, and end. Use descriptive language and pay attention to punctuation and spacing. Once you finish, illustrate a scene from your story. Be prepared to share your story with the class in our next lesson.
