Reflection is the process of thinking about what we have done, how we did it, and what we can improve. In Creative Arts, reflection helps us to evaluate our work and understand our creative choices. Assessment, on the other hand, is the evaluation of our work based on certain criteria. It helps us to see how well we have achieved our goals and what areas we need to focus on for improvement.
Consider a painting you created. Reflect on the colors you chose and why you chose them. Did they convey the emotions you intended? Write down your thoughts about what worked well and what you might change next time. This reflection helps you to grow as an artist.
As a class, we will discuss what makes a good piece of art. We will create a list of criteria together, such as creativity, use of color, and technique. Each student will then share their thoughts on why these criteria are important for assessing art. This will help everyone understand how to evaluate their own work and the work of others.
