Personal development is a lifelong process of self-improvement in various aspects of life, including emotional, social, and physical well-being. It involves recognizing our strengths and weaknesses and making conscious choices to enhance our skills and behaviours. This week, we will focus on how making healthy choices and showing respect towards ourselves and others can lead to positive personal growth.
Imagine a scenario where a student is offered junk food during lunch but knows that they have a healthy lunch packed. Discuss with the class what the student should do. The healthy choice would be to eat their packed lunch instead of the junk food. This scenario highlights the importance of making choices that benefit our health and well-being.
In pairs, students will role-play a situation where one student is feeling left out during a group activity. The other student will practice showing respect by inviting them to join and using kind words. After the role-play, students will discuss how respectful behaviour can positively impact relationships and create a supportive environment.
Students will take a few minutes to reflect on what they have learned about personal development, healthy choices, and respectful behaviour. They will then write down one small, achievable goal related to these topics. For example, a goal could be to compliment a classmate every day for a week or to choose a healthy snack instead of junk food. Students will share their goals with a partner to encourage accountability.
