Let's look at a few examples: 'The cat sat on the mat.' This is a simple sentence with a subject ('The cat') and a verb ('sat'). Now, consider the sentence: 'What time is the meeting?' This sentence uses a question mark to indicate that it is asking for information. Notice how punctuation changes the meaning and tone of the sentences.
In pairs, students will create five sentences using different punctuation marks. For example, they should include at least one question mark, one exclamation point, and one comma.
